Snowshoe hike amid remnant storm devastation

On Saturday afternoon, we participated in a ranger-led snowshoe hike through utter devastation along the Alligator Hill Trail in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The damage is  the aftermath of an August 2, 2015 superstorm that hit the park with 100+ mph winds and felled more than 8,000 trees just along and near this trail. The closest thing I’ve seen in comparison was the toppled forests downwind of Mt. St. Helens’ eruption.
